The Problem
Enginuity D&C faced a complex challenge at Hawkesbury Hospital in Windsor, NSW. The hospital required a comprehensive chiller plant upgrade, with a focus on modernising the cooling and heating systems. This included adding a new Building Management and Control System (BMCS), which was needed to ensure seamless management of the heating and cooling processes.
Operating within critical care areas and sterile environments posed additional challenges. It was crucial to implement a systematic upgrade that would not disrupt the hospital’s ongoing operations, ensuring patient safety and comfort. With the hospital’s highly sensitive needs in mind, Enginuity D&C embarked on a thorough solution.
Our Solution
Enginuity D&C orchestrated a meticulous six-month program to address the hospital’s needs efficiently and systematically. The cooling plant upgrade was scheduled for the winter months, while the heating plant upgrade was planned for the summer. The comprehensive program included a three-stage process: the cooling plant, the heating plant and air handling units. The final phase, adding the rotary heat exchangers, was executed to ensure a seamless transition and optimal performance.
Enginuity D&C’s innovative approach accommodated the hospital’s critical requirements, especially in operating theatres and highly sterile areas. The precision of the staged process allowed for a careful upgrade that ensured patient care remained uninterrupted.
